Description

The Call of the Wild is set during the Klondike Gold Rush in the 1890s. Buck, a powerful St. Bernard–Scotch Collie mix, lives a pampered life on a ranch in California until he is kidnapped and sold into the harsh world of sled dogs in Alaska.

In the frozen North, Buck learns the brutal “law of club and fang,” where only strength and cunning ensure survival. He endures beatings, starvation, and deadly rivalries with other dogs, but he quickly adapts and rises to become a leader.

After being passed through several cruel owners, Buck finally finds kindness with John Thornton, a man who treats him with love and respect. Buck shows his devotion by saving Thornton’s life multiple times. However, Thornton is eventually killed by Native hunters, leaving Buck devastated.

Freed from human bonds, Buck fully embraces the wilderness. Drawn by instincts and the howling of wolves, he joins a wolf pack and becomes its leader. He lives on as a legendary figure—the “Ghost Dog”—symbolizing the triumph of primal instinct and nature over civilization.
